Laser Vein Surgery

The newest technology available, this procedure uses light waves to eliminate varicose veins. Due to the technology used, endovenous medical lasers are able to treat a large range of vein sizes.

The COOLTOUCH CTEV LASER has a 1320 nm wavelength, which has been found to be the most comfortable and effective laser treatment for varicose veins. The 1320 nm wavelength requires less heat to close the vein than Diode lasers, which have an 810, 940 or 980 wavelength. The high heat generated by Diode lasers can actually rupture the vein causing significant pain, swelling and bruising. With this wavelength laser, you will receive the best results available. You will experience minimal pain, bruising or post-op complications and the success rate is 98-100%.

Sclerotherapy Treatment
Sclerotherapy treatment is good for the treatment of spider veins, reticular veins, or blue veins, as well as large veins on the back and side of the calf and thigh areas. Injection of spider and telangectatic veins usually does not require wearing compression stockings; however, larger veins do. Sclerotherapy treatments are less painful in the treatment of spider veins than laser spider vein removal. The injection associated sclerotherapy treatment feels like a mosquito bite that lasts a few seconds. The cost of treating spider veins using sclerotherapy treatments are less expensive than laser spider vein removal.

Varicose Vein Surgery

Varicose vein surgery is almost always performed on an outpatient basis. Usually patients are released to go home two to three hours after completion of the surgery.

Varicose vein surgery is reserved for patients having large varicose veins with incompetent valves. Large veins are removed through a very small incision, usually less than one-quarter of an inch in length. The scarring from these incisions is hardly noticeable after a few months.

In these patients, varicose vein surgery offers several advantages over sclerotherapy treatments. The diseased vein is completely removed, and recovery time is shorter. Additionally, there is no need for wearing heavy compression stockings.
